This year I had an Aussie Christmas, which means yummy seafood, hot weather and swimming. My DIY centrepieces were a hit and I can't even begin to tell you how fresh and yummy the oysters were! It was a lot different to a cosy, festive, London Christmas, but it's good to be home :)

Merry Christmas - DIY snow globe centrepieces

Wishing you all the most merriest of Christmases for 2012! This Christmas Eve I have been given the fun task of creating the centrepiece for our family's Christmas lunch table. I got these beautiful glass domes from the UK (squeezing them in my carry-on luggage!) and decided to turn them into some snow-globe-esk Christmas creations! After the glass display domes, all I spent was about $15 on: - White paper to cover the bases - Gold glitter covered Christmas trees (from the cheap shop!) - Cotton wool for snow clover - A can of spray snow for the bottom inside...

This Christmas I wanted to do something different. Having limited space and an abundance rustic decorations (thanks to Homely Creatures market stalls) I thought I would challenge myself not to buy anything new and create a Christmas 'tree' with things from around my home. On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me... five little candles, four glass milk bottles, three hessian buntings, two strings of fairy lights, one wooden ladder, and Kewpie dolly angel on top! This rustic approach using browns, reds and white, although not very traditional, goes nicely with my screen printed brown wrapping...
